The short version:
I work in marketing for a real estate company, and am mom to a very busy little girl. I often feel like the ringmaster of a circus (albeit a fun one), but just for the record, I find clowns strangely unsettling.
Loves: Marketing, PR, social media. My family. The lake, and the beach. Xtend Barre and power yoga. Fan of pearls, the office ponytail, and not-so-sensible shoes (and often, all three at once).
Pet peeves: Having an "h" tacked onto the end of my name. Being "ma'amed." Spam (any variety).
The long version:
I'm Director of Marketing at The Dolben Company, Inc., a Boston-based real estate company that provides property management, development management and investment management services. My responsibilities include developing and driving the company’s marketing strategy, as well as developing property marketing plans for individual communities. I also act as Dolben's "brand police," analyze advertising campaigns, evaluate web-based marketing technologies, and oversee property enhancements. Additionally, my role includes new business development, all things social, and designing and implementing leasing-based training programs for onsite associates. Over the past few years, I've been lucky enough to have spoken and moderated at industry
conferences both regionally and nationally, including the National Apartment Association's Education Conference and Exposition, the National Multifamily Housing Council's Apartment Operations and Technology (OpTech) Conference, the Apartment Internet Marketing (AIM) Conference, the Entrata Summit, and the Rental Housing Association's Marketing & Leasing Conference.
My career covers more than fifteen years of real estate marketing and PR experience. Prior to joining Dolben, I was Director of Marketing at Northland Investment Corporation, a privately held, fully integrated real estate investment and development firm, where I built the marketing department from the ground up. My responsibilities at Northland included strategic planning, brand management, public relations, and oversight of all firm marketing activities. Previously, I managed the public relations and brand development efforts for Berkshire Mortgage Finance, a commercial mortgage firm, which is now known as Berkeley Point Capital. My real estate career began in the late 90's at Spaulding & Slye Colliers, a real estate services and investment company (now Jones Lang LaSalle), where I coordinated various community relations programs for large-scale development projects. I started my career at Arnold Public Relations, a division of Arnold Worldwide, where I quickly discovered that I was not cut out for the agency world. It was a happy coincidence that I ended up in real estate—now, I can't imagine working in another field.
I earned a BA in English from Colby College and an MA in Integrated Marketing Communication from Emerson College. In 2009, I also earned a designation as a Certified Inbound Marketer. My current industry involvement includes serving on the Marketing & Brand Management Committee
of the National Multifamily Housing Council, the Marketing Committee and the NextGen Committee of the National Apartment Association, the Education Committee of
the Rental Housing Association, Zillow's Multifamily Rental Advisory Board, Apartment List's Leadership Council, and the Multifamily Social Media Summit Advisory Board. Previously, I served on the board of directors of AMA Boston for
three consecutive terms. You can read more about my professional background here.
On both a personal and professional level, I am passionate about what I do, and believe that what you put in equals what you get out.
