About Sara

The short version:
I work in marketing for a real estate company, and am mom to a very busy little toddler. I often feel like the ringmaster of a circus (albeit a fun one), but just for the record, I find clowns strangely unsettling.

Loves: Marketing, PR, social media. My family. The beach. Power yoga. The gym, when I can get there. Fan of pearls, the office ponytail and not-so-sensible shoes (and often, all three at once).

Pet peeves: Having an "h" tacked onto the end of my name. Being "ma'amed." Spam (any variety).

The long version:
I'm Director of Marketing at The Dolben Company, Inc., a Boston-based real estate company providing property management, development management and marketing services to its clients. My responsibilities include developing and driving the company’s marketing strategy, as well as developing property marketing plans for individual communities. I also act as Dolben's "brand police," analyze advertising campaigns, evaluate web-based marketing technologies, and oversee property enhancements. Additionally, my role includes designing and implementing leasing-based training programs for property employees.

My career includes more than a decade of real estate marketing and PR experience. Prior to joining Dolben, I was Director of Marketing at Northland Investment Corporation, a privately held, fully integrated real estate investment and development firm, where I built the marketing department from the ground up. My responsibilities at Northland included strategic planning, brand management, public relations, and oversight of all firm marketing activities. Previously, I managed the public relations and brand development efforts for Berkshire Mortgage Finance, a commercial mortgage firm which is now part of Deutsche Bank. My real estate career began in the late 90's at Spaulding & Slye Colliers, a real estate services and investment company (now Jones Lang LaSalle), where I coordinated various community relations programs for large-scale development projects. I started my career at Arnold Public Relations, a division of Arnold Worldwide, where I quickly discovered that I was not cut out for the agency world. It was a happy coincidence that I ended up in real estate—now, I can't imagine working in another field.

I earned a BA in English from Colby College and an MA in Integrated Marketing Communication from Emerson College. In 2009, I also earned a designation as a Certified Inbound Marketer. A proud member of the American Marketing Association, I served on the board of directors of AMA Boston for three consecutive terms. I am also a founding member of the Apartment Social Council, and a member of Boston Women Communicators and The CMO Club.
